About the Role

The Product Owner acts as the interface between the Product Manager and Delivery teams.  You will be responsible for translating the wider Summit Automotive platform roadmap into a specific product backlog for one or more components of the platform, managing timescales accordingly.  On a day to day basis, the Product Owner will spend most of their time working closely with the Delivery team to ensure that the business needs are fully understood and to review the team’s output and capacity.

The Product Owner explains what is needed, why it is needed and what order it should be delivered; negotiating with and managing stakeholder expectations.  As well as leading the Delivery team the Product Owner also works with the Product Manager to help formulate their individual product roadmaps within the overall platform strategy.

This permanent opportunity is for Product Owner who has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and bring a high level of strategy and governance into a start-up type environment.  The Automotive teams are based from central London (Soho) and Warwick, with third-party teams in Romania and Prague. We are looking for someone to be based out of our Warwick for the majority, with travel to our other sites as and when required.

About You

With previous working experience as a Product Owner within a web and e-commerce environment, you will have the experience of managing scheduling and resource dependencies, alongside the ability to split big features into small slices of independently deliverable value.  In-depth knowledge of Agile processes and principles is key along with strong domain knowledge and a deep understanding of all product/platform personas and their needs as users.

With a flair for writing user stories that express the “why” as well as the “what” together with the ability to understand and comprehend complex user journeys.  An overall creative thinker with the confidence to champion alternative approaches/ways of working in order to drive operational efficiencies and to ensure adherence to best practice.

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to be challenged and ensure commitments are both commercial and realistic, re-negotiating where needed.  Understanding and experience of backlog management tools is required to be able to clearly express the connection between larger business goals and small backlog items.
